Let me leave Hong Kong today and let me show you this video I saw that I totally love. Finally, a promotional/tourism video of the Philippines that features more than beaches. I mean, our Department of Tourism always highlight our beaches – which are beautiful and world-class by the way, but I believe that there is more to our country than sand. For instance, the Philippines is a wonderful shopping destination. Goods are cheap and it’s easy to shop around because everyone speaks English. Hong Kong does not hold a candle to the Philippines in terms of shopping. And there’s the cuisine. Filipino food is simply delicious. Our cuisine is a fusion of Spanish, Chinese, Southeast Asian and American influences. Taste our sisig (look it up) and our lechon (roasted pig). Vegetarian? Try ginataang sitaw without the pork fat.

So people come visit the Philippines for its beaches, for its food, for its shopping, mountains, music, culture…. Visit us and I promise you, you will have a great time!

Jason picked me up at the office one Sunday evening and he and I decided to have hotdogs for dinner. So after a considerably long walk from World Wide House to the Mid-Levels escalator, he and I settled on a couple of dilapidated stools chomping on hotdogs (he had a chilidog, I had a frankfurter with sauerkraut) and downing Coke and ginger beer.

What a perfect way to spend a Sunday night – husband and hotdogs. Hehehe.

Whenever the day draws to a close and I still have not found my photo-of-the-day, I would start rummaging through the house looking for something, anything, I could photograph. And today was one of those days. I was so caught up with this layout project I was doing that I totally forgot about the time. I looked outside and it was dark. I groaned, kicked myself in the head, and groaned again.

Anyway, this is the part where I talk about the photo and try to come up with some silly story as to why I think this is “Hong Kongy” enough for the collection. So here goes…Well, these snacks one of my favorites. Jason used to buy some for me when we lived in Manila. I would eat them with coffee, before lunch, after lunch, and at midnight (TRUE!). I was quite amazed that they sold these here in HK! Talk about global trade!

Ok that’s enough bullsh*tting for one night. But the story above is totally true.
