25/365 : Comfy Black Pumps, originally uploaded by Snap Happy Ria.
I thought it a good idea to commemorate my first day of work by photographing my favorite pair of comfy black pumps. Since moving to Hong Kong I always had this idea in my head that I’d stay a housewife forever… not until my compulsion to earn my own money took over.
I am still that housewife though. I still cook, I still do the laundry. Only now I do it with make-up, pearls, and kick-ass black pumps.

Another typhoon invades Hong Kong. Not much drama in the photo. I couldn’t get the settings right, I didn’t have time, coz I was afraid of being blown away!

These things greeted me as I headed out of IFC this afternoon. I have no idea what they are, but they look pretty interesting. These things actually turn with the wind, sort of like circular wind vanes. I think the idea of this installation is to have the illusion of movement with the color. But then again, maybe not. Oh well, who cares.

08/365 : Mooncake, originally uploaded by Snap Happy Ria.
This mooncake is all that is left of the ones given to me by my husband to celebrate the Mid-Autumn/Mooncake Festival. A white mooncake is quite unusual as they are often brown. But over the years, the pallet of the mooncake-eating public have become more sophisticated. Nowadays, instead of the usual red-egg-and-mung-bean filled mooncakes, they now have versions made of jello or Haagen Dazs ice cream. More expensive versions are filled caviar and black truffles… and ah yes, the wonderful white mooncake above that tastes of marzipan and some other paste I don’t know.

Ah, the life of a cat. Carefree and emotionally independent. Isn’t that swell? A lot of women would kill to be carefree and emotionally independent. No wonder Catwoman breaks so many hearts.
Speaking of being carefree and emotionally independent. I chanced upon the Tyra Banks show this afternoon and she featured African-American women who go to great lengths to whiten their skin. This one woman even bleaches her kids. Tyra calls them “victims” of society. I call them “misinformed.” By the way, white women tan themselves all the time, isn’t that the same thing?
